Tin Body, Clockwork Mind
Music & Lyrics by Ophelia Baptista
Epilogue by H.M.
Arranged by The Gin Rebellion

She was flesh when he found her, Lifeless and torn.
With tin he repaired her: A hybrid reborn.
She opened her eyes the Doctor smiled with pride
But didn’t know his creation wanted to be a bride.

He dressed her in satin, curled her fair golden hair,
Oiled her ankle and shoulder, tuned her fingers with care.
He brought her to his peers. “Abomination!” They cried.
They stripped him of his license. He tossed her aside.

Now each night she sings:
“Hold me! Hold me!
I want to be loved
And learn of this feeling
I’ve only dreamed of.
I will wander forever,
Until the day I find
One who’ll love this tin body for my clockwork mind.”

She wandered to a dance hall; they took her in.
Paid her two bits an hour tor the wages of sin.
Each man claimed to love her. Only one really did.
His heart was of flesh, but his arm was of tin.

It wasn’t long till they argued through the nights and the days
And a longing stirred within her for them to part ways.
She stole away his ship, cried: “So long, it’s been fun,
But the future is calling, so I really must run!

“To someone who will hold me, oh hold me
I want to be loved
And learn of this feeling
I’ve only dreamed of.
I will wander forever
Until the day that I find
One who’ll love this tin body for my clockwork mind!”

Then she found a mapmaker lost in the rain
Who searched all dimensions to find home again.
He said: “I look for my love, she is as just as fair as you”
She said: “I will help you if there’s something you’ll do?

“If you would just please
Hold me! Hold me!
I want to be loved
And learn of this feeling
I’ve only dreamed of
I will wander forever,
Until the day I find
One who’ll love this tin body for my clockwork mind.”

He turned away from her, she took his maps and she ran
To roam all creation again and again.
Now to this day no one knows where’s she’s gone,
But if you listen closely you can still hear her song.

“Hold me, hold me
I want to be loved
And learn of this feeling
I’ve only dreamed of
I will wander forever
Until the day I find
One who’ll love this tin body for my clockwork mind.”

She said, “Hold me! Hold me!”
She wanted to be loved
And lost that sweet feeling
She’d only dreamed of
She did wander forever
Until the day she died–
Collapsing into pieces, with her clockwork mind.
